Permissions
[MC] Thread Split adds two permission interface groups, Thread Split (general) and Thread Split: Moderator permissions.
General permissions
| Permission | Default | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Posts do not count toward auto-split threshold | Deny | Members in this group can post in a threaded chain without their posts contributing to the threshold counter. The thread's reply_count still increments; the add-on tracks an internal split-eligible counter that excludes their posts. Useful for staff replies in support threads. |
Moderator permissions
| Permission | Default | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Manually split a thread | Deny | Lets the moderator force a split now from the thread tools menu, regardless of threshold or split mode. |
| Override thread split settings | Deny | Lets the moderator open the per-thread overrides form on a thread to change its threshold, split mode, or templates independently of the forum-level configuration. |
| Detach a thread from its chain | Deny | Lets the moderator remove a part from a chain. The thread becomes an ordinary standalone thread; the chain continues without it. |
How permissions interact with the global switch
If Enable auto-split globally is off (AdminCP > Setup > Options > [MC] Thread Split), threshold-based splits do not fire regardless of permissions. Moderators with Manually split a thread can still split.
The bypass-counter permission (Posts do not count toward auto-split threshold) only matters while auto-split is active. With auto-split disabled it has no effect.
