Permissions

The add-on registers six permission groups under AdminCP > Groups & permissions > Permissions. They cover three content types (downloads, comments, reviews), with a separate group for the user-facing permissions and another for moderator-only permissions in each.

Per-category overrides use the same machinery forum permissions use: any permission can be set per category, and values inherit down the category tree.

Category management permissions live in the Downloads moderator group. The audit log is gated by the standard AdminCP [MC] Downloads Manager admin permission rather than a per-moderator flag.

Granting a permission

1. Navigate to AdminCP > Groups & permissions > Permissions.
2. Pick the user group you want to grant the permission to (or pick a specific user).
3. Scroll to the relevant Downloads, Comments, or Reviews section.
4. Set each permission to Allow, Deny, Inherit, or Never.
5. Click Save changes.

For per-user overrides, choose Permissions for individual user at the top of the page.

Downloads (user permissions)

Downloads (moderator permissions)

• View any deleted. See soft-deleted downloads from any user.
• Edit any. Edit any user's download.
• Delete any. Soft-delete any user's download.
• Hard-delete any. Hard-delete any user's download.
• Approve queued. Approve downloads from other users.
• Move. Move downloads between categories.
• Reassign. Change the primary author.
• Feature. Mark a download as featured.
• Bypass criteria gate. Skip the criteria gate.

Comments (user)

• View comments. See the comments list on a download.
• Post comments. Add a new comment.
• Edit own comment. Edit comments you posted.
• Delete own comment. Soft-delete comments you posted.
• Attach to comment. Upload attachments to a comment.
• React to comment. Apply reactions to comments.
• Bypass flood check. Skip the per-user post-rate flood check.

Comments (moderator)

• Edit any comment. Edit any user's comment.
• Delete any comment. Soft-delete any user's comment.
• Hard-delete any comment. Permanently remove a comment, bypassing the soft-delete window.
• Approve queued comments. Approve comments held in the moderation queue.
• View moderated. See comments awaiting approval.
• View deleted. See soft-deleted comments.
• View IPs. See the IP address attached to each comment.

Reviews (user)

• View reviews. See the reviews list on a download.
• Rate. Apply a star rating without writing a review.
• Review. Write a full review.
• Reply. Reply to an existing review.
• Vote. Cast a helpful/not-helpful vote on a review.
• React. Apply reactions to reviews.
• Report. Report a review for moderator attention.
• Edit own review. Edit reviews you posted.
• Delete own review. Soft-delete reviews you posted.
• Submit anonymously. Post a review without revealing your username on the listing.
• Bypass review approval. Skip the review moderation queue.

Reviews (moderator)

• Edit any review. Edit any user's review.
• Delete any review. Soft-delete any user's review.
• Hard-delete review. Permanently remove a review, bypassing the soft-delete window.
• Undelete review. Restore a soft-deleted review.
• View moderated. See reviews awaiting approval.
• View deleted. See soft-deleted reviews.
• View IP. See the IP address attached to each review.
• Approve any. Approve reviews held in the moderation queue.
• Reassign. Transfer a review's authorship to a different user.

Per-category overrides

Every permission supports per-category overrides. Permissions inherit down the category tree the same way forum permissions do.

To set per-category overrides:

1. Navigate to AdminCP > [MC] Downloads Manager > Categories.
2. Open a category and click Permissions.
3. Pick a user group or a specific user.
4. Set each permission to Allow, Deny, Inherit, or Never.

A Deny value at a parent category cannot be re-allowed at a child unless the parent uses Allow and the child overrides individual permissions.

Audit log

Every permission change writes a row to the standard moderator log, not the add-on's own audit log. The add-on's audit log records actions on downloads, versions, files, comments, reviews, share tokens, and team members. See the audit log.
