Permissions

Three user permissions live under Contextual Signatures at AdminCP > Groups & permissions > Permissions.

PermissionDefaultEffect
Use contextual signaturesAllowLets the visitor create extra signatures and map them to forums. When revoked, the user is restricted to the default signature editor.
Bypass maximum contextual signature limitDenyLets the visitor create more contextual signatures than the Max contextual signatures per user option allows. Useful for staff or premium groups.
Schedule contextual signaturesDenyReveals the Schedule signature checkbox in the editor so the user can give a signature a start and/or end date. Depends on Use contextual signatures. When revoked, existing scheduled signatures continue to be honoured but the dates can no longer be edited from this account.

How permissions interact with the global options

  • The Excluded forums option always wins. Even users with the Use contextual signatures permission see their default signature on posts in excluded forums.
  • The Bypass maximum contextual signature limit permission overrides only the count cap; the Excluded forums rule still applies.
  • The Schedule contextual signatures permission only gates the editor UI. Existing start and end dates on signatures created before the permission was revoked remain in effect and continue to be honoured at render time — the user simply can no longer edit those dates.
